When the trial of the TBT 18 began last year in Oct 2008, i said it was the rape of the Constitution of Singapore.
This “rape”, and the persecution by prosecution of the TBT 18, continues this week in Subordinate Court 5. The pro-govt local press continues to report just one side of the story or not at all. No surprise there. Yet, the government’s actions; the so called ‘trial’; and the bias media coverage, are all shameful. The saliva-forming-in-my-mouth-to-spit kind of shameful.
Tried for breaking the law. Pled guilty. Paid fines. Go to jail. These are the ONLY things you’ll see or read about if you’re one of those who ONLY reads or watches what the local press dishes out, a one-sided picture. If you’re one of those, you won’t see these accounts: here, here, here, here and here.
See SDP’s website for reports of the trial from day one (make use of the search bar) as well as current reports of the ongoing trial.
And let’s not also forget about the CASE demonstration. See here, here and here.
Here’s a recap of what led to the current situation which began with a walk to Parliament House.
